In honor of the bicentenary of the Austrian composer's birth, Ingo Metzmacher and the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra present Bruckner's grand and profound 'Third Symphony' in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. Bruckner dedicated the work to his idol Wagner.

The Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester (GMJO) stands for dedication, enthusiasm and talent. The orchestra, founded in 1986 on the initiative of Claudio Abbado, is one of the leading youth orchestras in the world. Every year the best musicians are selected for a summer tour of European concert stages, led by prominent conductors such as Herbert Blomstedt, Sir Antonio Pappano and Iván Fischer. This year the orchestra is collaborating with the renowned Ingo Metzmacher for the impressive music of Bruckner and Wagner.
Bruckner's Symphony No. 3
In honor of the bicentenary of Anton Bruckner's birth, the GMJO will present Bruckner's Third Symphony this summer. A monumental piece in which overwhelming climaxes alternate with subdued, intimate passages. The Austrian composer dedicated the work to his idol Richard Wagner, prompting the GMJO to also play two famous fragments from Wagner's opera Parsifal .
