Jazz Gems: Rafael Devánte Sinay

In the spectacular digital art centre Fabrique des Lumières, Rafael Devánte Sinay will apply knowledge from his prosperous career to a unique concept. He merges images and sounds into one whole by collaborating with a multimedia artist and writing music himself. A self-written poem runs through the performance and takes the visitor on an unforgettable audio-visual journey of discovery.

Great name

Despite his young age, Rafael Devánte Sinay is already a big name in the jazz world. With his band SMANDEM, he has already played at many major festivals, including North Sea Jazz, ESNS and the Grachtenfestival. He has shared the stage with many jazz giants, such as Candy Dulfer, Elena Pinderhughes and Ntjam Rosie. He is also active as a musician or musical director in bands of Hip-hop greats such as Ronnie Flex, JAEL and Pete Philly.

The Grachtenfestival and the Keep an Eye Foundation join forces for a spectacular series of concerts called Jazz Gems. In this series, 4 'Gems' are selected, and these top talents of the highest order are given complete freedom to put together their own program.
