Van Ruller - Hogenhuis
These Dutch jazz heroes hardly need any introduction: guitarist Jesse van Ruller and saxophonist Maarten Hogenhuis form a versatile duo. Although their roots lie in jazz, they like to be inspired by idiosyncratic bands and songwriters such as Sufjan Stevens, Andrew Bird, Grizzly Bear and Blake Mills. Both players seek dialogue and break the traditional division of roles of accompanist and soloist. This illustrious duo, which has a broad view of saxophone and guitar, performs in the Bimhuis.

New album
After a successful debut album as a duo, they now present their new album, which, in addition to acoustic ones, also contains post-processed pieces in which the saxophone and guitar are used in every possible way. Jesse van Ruller's reputation as one of the most talented guitarists of his generation extends worldwide, leading to collaborations with greats such as Roy Hargrove, Joe Lovano and Bill Stewart. His intuitive playing shows a deep sense of melody and high rhythmic agility. Maarten Hogenhuis is part of the internationally renowned formation BRUUT!, he leads his own trio and was awarded the North Sea Jazz Composition Assignment in 2019. As a much sought-after sideman, he has proven himself in various genres.
