Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw FT. Teus Nobel: the Jazz Influencers

Without a new generation, no new jazz. That is why the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw gives ample opportunity to young Dutch 'Jazz Influencers'; with this edition leading trumpeter Teus Nobel. He is one of the most productive musicians of the moment and has released no fewer than six albums in rapid succession over the past five years.

Teus Nobel

Nobel has worked with the JOC before; in 2018 he was a guest soloist at the Miles Davis tribute, which was performed in a sold-out Concertgebouw. With great pleasure he will now perform his own repertoire, composed especially for this concert, with this big band.

Top of the big bands in Europe

The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw is one of the absolute top big bands in Europe. The orchestra has won multiple Edison Awards and previously collaborated with legends such as Chick Corea, Dr. Lonnie Smith and Joshua Redman. In 2020, the JOC commissioned nine young jazz makers to write compositions for the big band and explore their musical ideas and vision for jazz in a large line-up. This resulted in the album 'The Jazz Influencers'. According to de Volkskrant: “A fine album with fresh, new repertoire, fine solo work and thunderous ensemble playing.” The orchestra is now continuing this concept in the recurring concert series 'The Jazz Influencers'.
