Mix of jazz, folk and cinematic storytelling
Norwegian trumpeter Mathias Eick is appreciated worldwide for his recognizable, melancholic sound and melodic compositions. His latest album Lullaby takes you back to childhood and reminds us that even the most powerful people were once children. With his recognizable trumpet sound, Eick knows how to deeply touch emotions. Together with his regular quintet, consisting of musicians such as Håkon Aase (violin), Torstein Lofthus (drums), Andreas Ulvo (piano) and Audun Erlien (bass), he brings a mix of jazz, folk and cinematic storytelling. An evening full of refined improvisations and enchanting sounds. The Lyder Røed Quintet opens with a short set. This young quartet of bandleader, composer and trumpeter Lyder Røed is inspired by the Norwegian jazz scene on the one hand and American jazz such as Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Nat Adderley and Roy Hargrove on the other.
