Torah Collective

When Petros Klampanis is on stage, he throws himself into full control, whether he is soloing, accompanying or using his double bass as a percussion instrument. Influences from his native Greece are strongly present on his recent album 'Tora Collective' (Tora = nu). On it he plays contemporary versions of Greek folk songs, together with well-known musicians from New York. He also takes a new look at tradition in his own compositions. In Klampanis' current band, an important role is reserved for the oud, the Arabic lute, played by the young Greek musician Thomas Meleteas.

'Petros Klampanis is a musician who has always spoken from the heart. There is a clear connection between his instrument, mind and fingers.' (Down beat).
