Stefan Gerritsen + Ere Lievonen - Expeditie 31
In the first MicroFest concert, house organist Ere Lievonen and guitarist Stefan Gerritsen highlight the differences between the Fokker organ and Gerritsen's 31-tone guitar. The fading plucked sounds and the tightly sustained organ tones both float between the tones of the western octave, but they fade out in intriguingly different ways. In a new work by Finnish microtonalist Sebastian Dumitrescu, Gerritsen plays electric, but the pure mean-tone tuning of Spanish Renaissance master Luys de Narváes comes to life acoustically. Resonating strings and tight organ tones in Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ.

Minifestival MicroFest
Concerts with the microtonal Fokker organ are about refined colour differences. These subtle differences require an active way of listening. For those who can't get enough of that, the Huygens-Fokker Foundation organises MicroFest, a mini-festival where you can immerse yourself in a microtonal adventure for a day. From the 31-tone Fokker organ to the Carrillo piano divided into 96 micro intervals and from Spanish Renaissance music to improvised sound experiments of today.
