Poetic water

Bandleader Joan Reinders has set beautiful poems by well-known climate-conscious poets to music, which are sung by the charismatic Izaline Calister. Partly due to the addition of the young harpist Sanne Bakker, the orchestra conjures up all sorts of things, from warm-blooded ballads to rousing Latin jazz with Caribbean influences. In collaboration with De Stad Verbeeldt from Zwolle, the story about water and climate change is also made visual. The focus is on the vulnerable position of islands. 'Queen Izaline', born and raised on Curaçao, made a selection of poems about islands. Sometimes literally, sometimes more intuitively. Poems with a 'sea feeling, I have to hear it splashing', according to Izaline. Islands, waterfalls, rivers, creeks, streams, beach, sea, rain and storm are discussed. The texts are in Dutch, English and Papiamento.
