Ginger Tea Sessions - Adrian van Wyk & Simone Zeefuik

For this year's first edition of the Gemberthee Sessions (Ginger Tea Sessions) we're connecting Bijlmer to Cape Town. We'll do this through the works and research of writer, director, producer, curator and cultural worker Adrian Van Wyk. Simone Zeefuik interviews Adrian about his creative processes and current research projects through which he left decolonial activism in the Netherlands and South Africa. The session opens with the screening of the short documentary What The Soil Remembers. Van Wyk is the producer and researcher of this short film directed by José Cardoso. At Bijlmer Parktheatre.

ADI(C)SCO is an endless dance trip with the aim of being intoxicated and continuing to lose yourself in it: or addiction. The performance exudes the atmosphere of the disco era, in which the club scene and club drugs became popular. ADI(C)SCO is a party that gets out of hand and never ends. With this performance, Moisio wants to address the taboos and shame surrounding addiction. Moisio himself grew up with an alcoholic father and, therefore, has a strong personal motivation to discuss this topic. Can be seen in Bijlmer Parktheater.

The 11th edition of the annual Tulip Festival will pay tribute to Amsterdam 750 in April 2025. They will be in public spaces along streets, on bridges and squares, in flower beds and parks, shopping centres and (neighbourhood) gardens. In April, Tulip Festival will make the city bloom and this photogenic harbinger of spring can be beautifully immortalised.

While enjoying a delicious ginger tea courtesy of poetry and cocktail bar Labyrinth, Kelechi, our program maker Simone Zeefuik, and the audience will discuss Edge of Here, her debut collection of short stories.

Annie Romeinplein

The Annie Romeinplein is a square in Amsterdam-Zuidoost. The square was named on May 13, 1997; per council decision of the South East District it was named after writer Annie Romein-Verschoor. The square is sandwiched between the Geldershoofd and Gravestein flats on the north side and the Bijlmerdreef on the south side.
