Chief Adjuah, formerly known as Christian Scott

Under his birth name Christian Scott he managed to reach a large audience with innovative music. Under his new honorary title Chief Adjuah he makes the connection between contemporary beats and indigenous rhythms from America, West Africa and the Caribbean. With beautifully designed instruments such as the Adjuah Trumpet , Chief Adjuah's Bow and sirenette he achieves a sound that is embedded in the music and evokes comparisons with legends such as Jon Hassell and Miles Davis. Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah conquered important festivals such as North Sea Jazz and Transition and has been scoring high in the Downbeat for years Critics Polls as a trumpeter and composer. He has worked with pop and rock stars such as Prince, Jill Scott and Thom Yorke, and with influential rappers such as Mos Def, Boogie and Vic Mensa. His roots lie in New Orleans jazz: as a teenager he played he was in the band of his uncle Donald Harrison Jr., with which he made his Dutch live debut in 2003 on our stage.
