Guy Salamon Group
The supergroup Guy Salamon Group from Amsterdam takes a post-absurdist path with new album 'Free Hugs'. Wild improvisations and carefully constructed melodies intertwine. Think of Willem Breuker Kollektief and Charlie Haden's Liberation Music Orchestra, but also Balkan music and Celtic folk: a chaotic yet coherent mix of styles. Guy Salamon Group performs at the Bimhuis.

Free Hugs
The Guy Salamon Group is one of the most striking bands in the current Dutch jazz scene, in a positive sense. Their latest album Free Hugs is set in a post-absurdist dimension and is about the adventures of the Shmoskers, a group of Egg-X people who want to return home from another universe. The ensemble excels in coloring outside the lines and sounds more current than ever. The eight-piece group received rave reviews: 'Kaleidoscopic, brilliant madness from Amsterdam-based jazz drummer and composer Guy Salamon. His compositions from swing, punk to polka spin around in a merry-go-round full of musical joy' (NRC).
