Forward in all directions: the four members of The Ex remain true to that one indestructible motto. Their 45th anniversary as a band will not be an obvious retrospective. More than 20 players will step onto the stage in all kinds of formations: a cross-section of the extensive network of The Ex. Originating from many countries, including the US, Ethiopia, France, Norway, Great Britain and Belgium. In 10 performances there is room for free improvisation and new encounters, exciting pop, poetry, visual arts and traditional Ethiopian music. With voice, electric guitars and drums as a starting point, The Ex is constantly looking for new challenges. And has been doing so for 45 years: the band from Wormer has played more than 2000 concerts in 45 countries. Intense collaboration with Ethiopian artists ensured that The Ex is also recognized as a pioneer in bringing together music from various corners of the world. What started with committed punk, rooted in the squat ideology of the late seventies, grew into an impossible to label radius of action.
