Théotime Langlois de Swarte + Justin Taylor - Brotherly in baroque
Unheard pearls in Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ. 'They seem like brothers,' wrote Gramophone about the endearing duo Théotime Langlois de Swarte and Justin Taylor. Worldwide, these young dogs of early music attract full halls with curious explorations of familiar repertoire and unheard pearls of early music. Now it is the turn of the baroque. Purcell and Corelli may be known to many, it is certainly time that Henry Eccles and Pancrace Royer are also discovered.

Brotherly in Baroque
Real brothers were François and Louis Francoeur. One le cadet (the youngest), the other le fils aîné (the firstborn), both wrote music that is hard to sit still on. With Corelli's La Follia one can hear one of the most famous melodies of the baroque, if not of all time. In fact, that melody is not by Corelli but it is one of the oldest notated musical themes in Europe, a theme that many composers have run off with. Corelli wrote no less than 23 beautiful variations on it in his Violin Sonata op. 5 no. 12 .
