Steven Kamperman’s Maison Moderne
Alto clarinetist Steven Kamperman composed the 'Maison Moderne' suite during his artist-in-residency at Maison Van Doesburg in Paris. This musical journey through this iconic house combines jazz improvisations with composed sounds. It ranges from beautifully subdued to quite rocking - an audiovisual musical journey inspired by architecture and art in the Bimhuis.

Maison Van Doesburg
Theo van Doesburg designed the house in 1930 but had already been very influential in modern European art for fifteen years. With music, images and an anecdote here and there, Kamperman takes you through this unique masterpiece of architecture and art. He does this together with three great improvisers from the Netherlands and France. Dagblad Trouw about the album: 'The four musicians bring a very surprising palette of sounds and convey their playing pleasure so convincingly and contagiously that the listener automatically becomes cheerful.'
