Daniel García Diego is one of the most exciting Spanish jazz pianists of the moment. With his trio he made his debut at the Flamenco Biennale Netherlands in 2021, the online and live edition of the festival. Since then he has conquered jazz stages worldwide. 'Jazz and flamenco are brothers,' he says. And he shows that on the acclaimed albums Travesuras and Vía de la Plata. In his expressive style, rhythmic intensity goes hand in hand with melodic richness and harmonic finesse. With the project The Shape of Fire (La forma del fuego) he is breaking new musical ground. He is putting together a sextet of top musicians with diverse musical backgrounds, from the Netherlands to Iran, Austria to Armenia - and Spain of course.
Daniel García Diego: 'The Shape of Fire refers to the soul, the energy or the fire that glows at the core of all music that wants to convey human emotions and life experiences. Music has the power to connect with the inner self and transform it into art. Wherever it comes from or whoever creates it, whether it takes the form of flamenco, jazz, contemporary music or Armenian folk songs: music is born from a need to express the unfathomable.'
